What is Naturism All About?
Nudism, or Naturism as many people prefer, means a way
of life in harmony with nature characterised by the practice of communal nudity,
with the intention of encouraging self-respect, respect for others and for the
environment.
Social nudism is a healthy, life enhancing activity,
enjoyed by people from all walks of life. Children, parents, grandparents,
singles and couples can all participate in the safe, family oriented environment
fostered by clubs affiliated with the Australian Nudist Federation (ANF).
Many people enjoy being nude around the home
especially during Perth’s summer, or swim nude in the backyard pool and when
visiting free beaches. Some however, have discovered the additional benefits of
clothing optional resorts, or are members of a recognised nudist club. The
nudist lifestyle represents a chance to throw off the cares of the workaday
world and enjoy the freedom of living the way nature intended.
Learn to be comfortable with your body and recognise
the beauty of the human form in all its diversity, not just the advertising
image that enslaves so many in our society.
Acceptance of nudity in public is growing around the
world with increasing nudist tourism, nude relaxation in European city parks,
nudity in the performing arts and in the media. Although some nudity in the
media is based on sexuality there is an awareness of the legitimacy of naturism
by the inclusion of segments in programs such as "Getaway" and
"The Great Outdoors"; and Channel 7 has screened "Nude
Moments" which examined some of the history and current practice of
naturism.
